Former The Secret Life of Us star Samuel Johnson will plead guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, a Sydney court has been told.
Johnson, 29, is accused of punching a man to the ground and stomping on his head at a bar in Sydney's Star City Casino last month.
Both men had been guests at a wedding, but did not know each other.
At the Downing Centre Local Court today, Johnson's lawyer Greg Goold indicated a guilty plea.
"In the meantime he's seeking assistance for ... oh, just life problems - getting over the death of an ex-partner and the effect that's had on him with alcohol, and the circumstances that arose in this unfortunate incident," Mr Goold said.
He also said Johnson is sorry for what he did.
"He certainly says that he unfortunately took the wrong action in responding quickly to what he believed was a threat, which he says turned out to be a case of mistaken identity," he said.
"So he's very, very sorry for the injuries and the discomfort he's caused to the victim."
Johnson was not present at today's court mention.
A sentencing date will be set next week.
The Secret Life of Us aired from 2001 and 2005 on commercial TV.
